Our Approach

We endeavor to treat the whole patient and the community in which they live. Our goal is to improve the quality of life and level of performance of every patient. We don’t target a baseline or minimum standard. We encourage and target a higher level of performance than previously thought possible.

We take an active role in our communities, as we believe, promoting physical and mental health, as well as wellness, are critical to a high quality of life and are integral in avoiding injury.

Senior-Focused Therapies

Physical Therapists  are movement experts trained to help improve quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care and patient education. Physical Therapists work to improve gross motor patterns, spinal mobility, general flexibility, strength & balance and restore normal movement patterns. As a result, patients experience reduced pain, improved mobility and greater independence.

NEXT Physical Therapists – We set goals with the patient’s current and future capabilities in mind and do not subscribe to Ageism. We are proactive problem solvers who love what they do and CHOOSE to apply best-in-class clinical capabilities to the patients they serve.  The same clinical fundamentals are applied to our patients regardless of age or level of fitness.  Our technology is no less appropriate for our patients than it is for an Olympic Athlete or a member of our Military.  What makes us different?  Why choose a NEXT Physical Therapist?

Occupational Therapists  are experts who are concerned with promoting health and well-being through the use of upper body exercises and activities. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable or encourage participation in activities of everyday life such as: self-care, daily tasks, home management, community re-integration and social interaction. This includes, but is not limited to, upper extremity weakness, fine motor control, low vision therapy, grooming and dressing, eating, medication management and home safety skills.

NEXT Occupational Therapists strive to help our patients achieve maximum independence and self-sufficiency. We understand the role of self-care in maintaining and retaining dignity. Why are we different? Why choose a NEXT Occupational Therapist?

Speech Therapy improves cognition, speech clarity and articulation, reduces eating and swallowing difficulties, and improves confidence and independence.

All NEXT Therapists receive additional training in the care of patients with dementia. Through our Memory Care training and program, we help caregivers, loved ones and patients communicate more effectively with the patient and function at the highest level possible, subsequently maximizing quality of life.

NEXT therapists receive additional training in conditions that specifically target the aging population.  Many patients suffer from multiple conditions that affect their overall well being and health.

Thus, our therapists look at the whole person tailoring integrated motor-cognitive rehabilitative approaches to maximize outcomes.  We have therapists certified in Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!®) and therapists with their Geriatric Specialist Certification.  We focus on retraining functional mobility through amplitude-focused, whole-body movements to retrain automatic responses of individuals suffering from neurological conditions.

Urinary Incontinence (unwanted loss of urine) is a common and often embarrassing problem.  There are several types of incontinence including urge and stress incontinence.  In some cases, these types of incontinence are related to behavioral factors like eating/drinking foods that irritate the bladder, urinating before you need to or poor pelvic muscle control.  Some Physical Therapists have additional training in treating these common problems.  If you would like more information on this type of treatment, please contact us to find a Physical Therapist in your area.

Fall Prevention Programs

Falls, with or without injury, carry a heavy quality of life impact. A growing number of older adults fear falling and, as a result, alter their normal movement patterns, limit their activities and social engagements. This can result in further physical decline, depression, social isolation, and feelings of helplessness – all increasing their risk of falling.

NEXT Therapy Solutions takes a proactive approach in identifying individuals at risk of falling to provide therapy intervention to prevent a fall through traditional physical and occupational therapies. Additionally, we use TRAZER, an innovative tool that combines technology, science and fun, to engage patients in therapy and reduce fall risk.

Reduction in falls in NEXT senior living communities using TRAZER to assess fall risk and to rehabilitate seniors.

NEXT Therapy Solutions uses TRAZER Technology as part of a comprehensive movement evaluation, analysis and rehabilitation program. TRAZER is an exciting machine intelligence and rehabilitation technology that uses a high powered camera to create an avatar of the user.

TRAZER Technology provides our NEXT Therapy Solutions Therapists detailed data on speed, acceleration, deceleration, and reaction time in multiple directions, all of which are able to identify and treat fall risk. TRAZER’s uniqueness uses neuro mechanics integrating brain and body performance.

TRAZER has an assessment or intervention designed to address fall risk, agility, reaction time, orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

Telehealth

Telehealth is an emerging practice and becoming a popular method to receive care in the therapy space. NEXT believes we should not only provide emerging technologies, connecting our highly skilled therapy providers with seniors, but also connecting them with their entire healthcare team. Additionally, we believe teaching seniors how to access and utilize virtual technologies is not only therapeutic and meaningful but critical in today’s connected digital ecosystem.

NEXT Telehealth is not a replacement for direct patient care. It is one of the many tools we use to meet our patients wherever they are at any moment in time. Continuity of care is critical, and telehealth reduces another barrier in ensuring our patients and communities remain active and avoid isolation.
